The domestic ferret is found under human care worldwide for hunting rabbits and also in the pet industry. It is a descendant of the European polecat which is found across Europe - however numbers in the UK are decreasing due to hunting, farming and transport conflict. Ferrets sleep on average between 14 - 18 hours a day, you may see ours sleeping in their tree houses! Their scientific name translates as 'smelly little thief' and a group of ferrets is called a business.
