Gila Monster

Gila monsters are one of only two venomous lizards in the world. Venom is produced from glands in the lower jaw. The venom travels along grooved teeth and is chewed into the wound of the would-be attacker. Gila monsters venom has been researched for use as a diabetes medication and other health conditions. Many people call the Gila Monster and Beaded Lizard living fossils, as their fossil records go back 98 million years with very few changes.
