Also known as the Yellow Armadillo - their armour is made of keratin, the same material as our hair and fingernails! They're an omnivorous species, eating fruit, nuts and insects. It lives in self-dug burrows in the savannahs of South America. They also have 6 movable bands over the back of it's body which it uses for protection, each band is covered in thin hair. Our Six Banded Armadillos can often be seen on the floor of the Squirrel Monkey enclosure digging around!
