Peregrine Falcon

Allgemeine Informationen

Falcons can dive on prey at upwards of 200 mph, making them one of the fastest species in the world. When flying horizontally, their average cruising flight speed is 24-33 mph, increasing to 67 mph when in pursuit of prey. They have a tubercle in each nostril to break the vacuum and to prevent them from passing out when they dive (or stoop) at high speeds. Stiff rigid wing feathers help them withstand massive G-forces, making them more aerodynamic.
