Star Tower

This iconic 200-foot observation tower provides an overhead view of California's Great America and is the very first ride guests encounter upon entering the park. Star Tower is situated inside Gold Striker’s initial descent and is the tallest observation tower in Northern California. The Star Tower’s 200-foot-tall column features an observation deck that slowly rises up the tower and stops at the top for spectacular views. From its magnificent vantage point, guests can view Great America’s grand entrance with the reflection pond fountains and Carousel Columbia, the rush of Gold Striker’s trains traversing the lift hill and flying out of the tunnel, an overall park view, the surrounding hills and even San Francisco on a clear day. Star Tower opened to visitors in 1979, and many will remember its red paint from before it switched to its famous blue hue. While the ride is one of the tallest inside Great America, Star Tower’s slow ascent makes it ideal for grandparents, grandchildren and the whole family. Height Requirement: 46” minimum or accompanied by a supervising companion. Hand-held infants must be accompanied by a supervising companion.
